Re-discovering Old Recipes

With so many cooking shows on televison at the moment, I have been inspired to cook.  I confess that ready made freezer meals and bbq chicken and salad have been a staple of late and this is most unlike me.  I have never been one to use a packet cake mix nor have I used jars/cans of pasta sauce.  I like to take the time to make my own sauce - use my own flavours and listen to a cd of romantic Italian songs whilst stiring and watching the sauce reach perfection.

With Asian food, I am not always so creative,  for the last few years I have been buying the ready made curry pastes and whilst the flavours are good, the satisfaction of creating a delicious meal is not there.  Yesterday I had a craving for Thai Green Chicken Curry and decided to check out my recipe books (instead of going online).  I found two Thai Cooking books that I bought back in the 80's, before Thai cooking became popular.  These are authentic recipes, not altered to suit western society.  The end result was the most delicious curry I have ever made and just as good as quality restaurants produce (even if I do say so myself....)

I can't wait to discover more "lost" recipes.
